This paper points out that in such a system the simultaneous three-mode oscillation may be excited stably in addition to the single-mode and simultaneous double-mode oscillations. Which of the above oscillations is excited actually? It is dependent on the value of the parameter ∈. A new method using an electronic system of orthogonal transformation for observing the multimode oscillations is introduced in this paper as well.

The theory and mathematic method of measuring the small reactivity with a pneumatic square wave oscillator are described. The square wave oscillator system and the experimental data collecting system in the DF-Ⅵ zero power fast reactor are also presented, Some measurement results about small material samples and the error analysis are discussed. It is shown that the small reactivity measurements with a repeating precision of 10~(-7) △k/k could be obtained.
