1. A simple method for synthesis of the α-pyrrole aldehyde-isonicotinyl- hydrazone by the action of α-pyrrole aldehyde on isonicotinyl hydrazine in absolute ethyl alcohol was described. Yield of the condensation product is quantitative, m. p. 230-231℃ (Decomp.) 2. This compound was as active as isonicotinyl hydrazine in testing its growth-inhibiting effect against mycobacterium tuberculosis in vitro, and its activity in vivo in guinea pigs artificially infected with human strain of myco- bacterium tuberculosis....

In a previous paper, Kao and collaborators have reported the synthesis and the antitumour activity of several analogues of chloramphenicol(Ⅰ), among which 2-[p-bis(2-chloroethyl)aminobenzylidene-imino]-1-p-nitrophenyl-1,3-propanediol(Ⅱ, designated as AT-16) exhibited a pronounced inhibitory action against a variety of animal tumours, and had been subjected to clinical trials. Since it has been established that the aminopropanediol moiety of chloramphenicol is necessary to the exhibition of the antibiotic...

Since it has been established that the aminopropanediol moiety of chloramphenicol is necessary to the exhibition of the antibiotic action, whereas the nitro group on the phenyl ring can be changed to some other radicals without affecting the biological activity, it seems reasonable to assume that replacement of the nitro group on the ring by other groupings with potential antitumour action would be more favourable for enhancing the effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of tumours.

Thermodynamic relations of v's in ternary systems, are also discussed, it shows that if the activity of water in ternary system is known, then the activity of water (or vapor pressure) or α_(ij) (i≠1) in quarternary system may be computed by equation (11).

25℃时测定电池:H_2|HCl(μ_1),Me′Cl(μ_2),Me″Cl(μ_3)|AgCl—Ag的电位,求得四元体系HCl—KCl—NaCl—H_2O及HCl—KCl—LiCl—H_2O中盐酸的活度系数γ_1,结果表明,在恒定的总离子强度μ时(μ≤3)存在下列线性关系 logγ_1=logγ_(1(0))-α_(12)μ_2-α_(13)μ_3并且其中系数α_(12)及α_(13)在实验的误差范围内和Harned等在三元体系中的数值相同。若线性关系成立,将Gibbs-Duhem方程式推广到1—1价型四元体系可以导出一些方程式,若已知各对应三元体系水的活度,则从这些方程式可以求得α_(ij)(i≠)1,也可以求得该四元体系中水的活度或蒸气压。
