A general theory on the realistic stress space of solids was formulated in a previous paper. In this paper, the bell stress spaces of several metals are compared, the concept of "efficiency of plastic deformation" is introduced and formulated, and the locus of deformation is discussed in connection with the theory of bell stress space. The same method can be applied to solve the Cauchy problem for thegeneralized Chapligin equation(?)(where K(t)is an increasing function,and K(0)=0),with initial data(?)The solution is given explicitly by(17.12).(p.550).

An approximate method is presented for investigating the stability of rigid frames. The procedure is based on the concept that the critical load of a frame without sidesway is the same as the smallest value among these critical loads of the compression members of the frame with partially restrained ends, and the critical load of every compression member may be determined by the method of successive approximation.The single storey multi-bay frame with sidesway will be treated as a simple symmetrical bent...

本文提供一求刚架临界荷重的近似计算方法。将组成刚架的各桿件视为两端受不同约束的桿件,用静力学的方法求出此等桿件相应的临界荷重,其中最小值即为刚架的临界荷重,举有实例以示演算程序。
