First this thesis expounds on the three universally recognized ranges from which the subjects of TV documentaries come: aspects of the external world unknown to most people, the topics or problems of general interest, and the ordinary but meaningful work and life of the average citizen. Finally, it deals with some problem areas in selecting subjects for contemporary Chinese TV documentaries.

Thus, a history of the production of a commercial movie is definitely a history of the evolution of the notion of marketing. It would never meet the social needs of the next century unless the creation and production of a commercial movie is put under the guidance of the most advanced concept of marketing of the age.
