The principle and the application of two methods used in the solidification simulation,which include Granular Dynamics and Phase field Method,are analysed in this paper.And the advantage and the disadvantage of the methods are also discussed.The status of the numerical simulation of microstructure and the future direction of development in this area are proposed.
