Plans are to up its share of the world export market from the present 1 percent to 2 percent by the end of this century. Taking into consideration its actual con- ditions, giving full scope to the advantages to make up for the deficiencies and making full use of foreign capital, Singapore has successfully kept the initiative in her...

Singapore, with a total trade volume of more than US$43 billion based in a tiny area, is making efforts for a 27 percent annual increase in her export trade for the next 10 years. Plans are to up its share of the world export market from the present 1 percent to 2 percent by the end of this century. Taking into consideration its actual con- ditions, giving full scope to the advantages to make up for the deficiencies and making full use of foreign capital, Singapore has successfully kept the initiative in her own hands in the teeth of flerce international competition by timely readjustments of its export commodities and markets in line with the changing needs of the world market. This is considered to be the basic impetus behind Singapores export expansion.

SEZ enterprises must ground themselves in the international market and, with high quality as the prerequisite, learn the tactics for exploring international market;2. SEZ government should play the role of the headquarters to direct SEZ industrial products in the international commercial competition, work out special policies to stimulate the exportation of industrial products, and offer powerful service to the enterprises in their exportation; and3. The state should,abiding by the principle of "SEZ independent administration of foreign trade", grant extraordinary support to the exportation of industrial products of SEZs as compared with non-SEZ areas.
