以二次误差度量方法的边折叠为基本方法 ,实现一种面积加权半边折叠三角形网格模型简化的算法 .该算法除了考虑顶点周围三角形的法向量外还考虑其他几何特征如三角形面积等来计算边的折叠代价 ,能够有效地对网格模型进行简化 ;采用递进网格表示方法存储网格信息 ,能够生成连续的细节层次模型 ,支持模型的多分辨率表示、任意精度简化等操作 .文中还给出了应用实例和分析数据 .

网格简化是计算机图形学中一个传统的研究课题,它对网格的存储和传输处理以及实时绘制都有着重要的意义。在视觉感知理论的指导下,提出一种新型的渐进网格简化算法,在简化过程中尽量保持视觉敏感的区域。依据半边折叠的能量函数来有效控制几何误差。实验表明,此算法不但可以生成一系列感知逼真的细节等级模型,而且具有很好的时间复杂性。
