A wind tunnel test was carried out to determine the wind load on tall building with complicated shape or subjected to interfering effect. A wind tunnel test was carried out to determine the wind load on tall building with complicated shape or subjected to interfering effect. To resolve the problem that the results of wind tunnel test cannot be directly used by structural design software, the global body shape coefficient obtained from the resultant force on a section of the tall building was employed. Analysis of a D-shape tall building showing that the wind pressures on its surface varies little with the height leads to the conclusion that global body shape coefficients decreases with the height; and that the arc shape of building surface has obvious influence on the wind pressures and global body shape coefficients. Therefore the global body shape coefficient of 1.3 applicable to rectangle-section tall building is not sure to be applicable to complicated-section building. The wind pressure distribution on double-tower building is more complicated and the extreme global body shape coefficients are much bigger than those of single tall building. The interfering effect of nearby building should be considered.
