The effect of different sizes and distributions of agglomerate on the pre- fired and sintered densities of alumina has been studied. NiO-doped alumina slips of different agglomerate sizes and distributions were prepared by using different stirring times. Samples were then formed by slip casting, dried at 50℃, prefired and then sintered at 1050℃ and 1735℃ reapeetivew. The effect of different sizes and distributions of agglomerate on the pre- fired and sintered densities of alumina has been studied. NiO-doped alumina slips of different agglomerate sizes and distributions were prepared by using different stirring times. Samples were then formed by slip casting, dried at 50℃, prefired and then sintered at 1050℃ and 1735℃ reapeetivew. The sintering behavior of agglomerates is considered in terms of the microstructure of agglomerates and sintered samples. The sintered density of samples which were formed from a slip stirred for 6 minutes was much lower than that for 36 minutes. The agglomerate size reduced greatly through stirring for 120 minutes and the density of the sample increased to 98.5% of theoretical density.

It is found that, (1) M-I, M- Ⅱ and M-H are much more susceptible to sintering thantheir precursor M-C,showing that the 2-step sintering prevails over the 1-step method;calcinasion and hydration after calcination are the effective measures for lowering thesintering temperature of magnesite.(2) The densification of activated calcination specimensproceeds much more rapidly at low and medium temperatures (up to 1400℃) than at highertemperatures,which is a significant characteristic of the 2-step sintering process.

Using the agglomerate density f, which is derived from the tap density, and modified agglomeration factor AF*(50), effects of processing conditions on the state of agglomeration and relationship between the state of agglomeration and sintering behavior are discussed in the paper. The properties of prepared powders are also evaluated from the microstructure of sintered samples. 本文采用由摇实密度求出团聚体密度f和改进的团聚参数AF~*(50),用以表征团聚状态,分析和讨论了工艺条件对团聚状态的影响以及粉末的团聚状态和烧结性能的相互关系,并结合烧结试样的显微结构对粉末的性能做出了评价。实验表明,f和AF~*(50)能简捷地反映粉末的团聚状态。由悬浮着超细α-Al_2O_3粉末的锆、钇混合盐溶液进行包裹沉淀,可以获得组分均匀、团聚体密度和团聚参数低的超细ZrO_2(Y_2O_3)-Al_2O_3粉末。
