This paper presents a hypothesis on the value of energy loss resulting from structural damping per quarter cycle of vibration, based upon the dynamic experimental results of five samples of steel and reinforced concrete structures such as beam, frame, thin plate etc., besides taking into consideration the various types of hysteresis loop in current literatures. The coefficient of energy loss is assumed to be the product of S_(01), the factor of energy loss for fundamental frequency under free vibration, and η_1, the damping parameter for fundamental frequency , φ_i, the damping parameter for higher frequencies under forced vibration. S_(01) is determined from the decrement curve of free vibration, while η_1 and φ_i are ascertained from regressive analysis and systematic generalization of experimental data under forced vibration. According to the principle of equivalent energy loss, the coefficients of energy loss can be adopted in value to the corresponding coefficient used in various methods of analysis. It is observed from numerical examples that if we carry out dynamic calculations using the new hypothesis and pertinent data, structure response are very much less than those obtained from current methods of analysis and are more conformable to experimental results.

本文从对钢和钢筋混凝土两种材料制成的梁、板、框架等五种结构型式的动力测试数据出发,参考国外一些资料,直接对结构振动时1/4周耗能值作了假设。其系数为自振耗能系数S_(01)、基频参数η_1和高频参数φ_i的乘积。根据自由振动衰减曲线确定了S_(01)按强迫振动试验数据的回归分析和综合整理确定了η_1和φ_i。按能量耗散相等原则,各系数均可折算至现有各种方法的相应系数上。通过二个例题计算表明,按本方法计算,较符合试验结果。

This paper deals with the free torsional vibration characteristics of non-linear elastic shaft with multi-degree of freedom. The equation of free vibration frequency of this system has been derived by Averaging Method of W.Ritz and a numerical example is given.
