The author holds that to study Chinese charateristics of enterprise management is connected with the Chinese road of modernizing managernment. This subject can be made meaningful only by answering the questionaffirmatively. The general and specific characters of enterprise management are discussed in threerespects. Firstly, there are general and specific characters of management in various social andcconomic systems. Those functions of management in connection with organizing produc-tive force and socialized large scale production are of general character. Those functionsconnected with social productive relations are of specific character. Therefore,goodexperience of any nation can be absorbed in China and make it Chinese. Secondly, there are general and specific characters of management in differeni coun-tries, districts and nations. Here, the concept of characteristic ad innovation are not the same thing. Studying the Chinese characteristics of mangement should lay stresson the characteristics that are really unique to Chinese people. These characteristics arenot only displayed in the enterprises in China's territory, but also displayed in the enter- prises run by oversea Chinese. It is necessary to sum up the management experiences ofenterprises in China mainland, Taiwan, Hongkng, Amoy and enterprises run by overseaChinese, and aggregate it into Chinese characteristics as the common wealth of Chinesepeople. Thirdly, there are general and specific characters in traditional and modern manage-ent. Modernization of management does not mean wholly eliminate traditional manage-ment. In the historical development, many things of general character will exist for a long time. So, in the process of management modernization, we have to combine inheritance with innovation. At the last part, this paper expounds the profound historic significance of studyingChinese characteristics of enterprise management. The author holds that the center of world economy is bound to shift to Asia-Pacific area in 21st century. The determinantfactor is the uprising of Chinese economy. China has vast territory, abundant materialresources, a billion people and vast market. Once China unified under the principle of"one China with two systems", it will bring about a new miracle in the history. The appro-ach of Chinese characteristics in enterprise management is meaningful to promote theemergence of this prospect.

This paper expounds the necessity of speeding up technological transformation in enterprises.This is the only way to change the out of date condition of equipments, to change the backward-ness of technology, and to meet the needs of domestic and international markets and competi-tion. In the process of technological transformation enterprises must pay due attention to eco-nomic results, namely gaining more output with less input.
