As the orientation of crystal growth enables the crystalgrown under uniform environment to assume certain characteristic shape (habits) and topresent certain exposing planes, the growth ridges and faces on the surface of the crystalgrown by the pulling method are naturally the results of the extension of the principalexposing planes under certain growing condition. The formation mechanism of the growth ridges on the surface of the crystal grown bythe pulling method is described. As the orientation of crystal growth enables the crystalgrown under uniform environment to assume certain characteristic shape (habits) and topresent certain exposing planes, the growth ridges and faces on the surface of the crystalgrown by the pulling method are naturally the results of the extension of the principalexposing planes under certain growing condition. The crystallographic conditions underwhith the ridges are grown on different parts of the crystal surface are described. Themethod of stereographic projection analysis for deducing the configuration and distributionof growing ridges along different pulling directions is also presented. The deduced confi-gurations of growth ridges on a number of crystals, such as SBN, BNN, BG, Si, LN, LT,etc have been compared with those obtained from the actual growth of the ridges whichprove that the method presented is generally applicable and satisfactory.

This paper discusses the problem associated with the formation mechanism of p-n junction and properties thin-film Cu2S/CdS solar cell. Calculations were made of the doped concentration "C0", of the thickness of Cu-film about Cu-treatment and of the junction areas increased by pre-etching. The authors believed that as the thickness of the Cu2S layer increase, the open-circuit voltage will not decrease.

Output performances of a hollow cathode He-Kr ion laser has been improved by modifying the laser structure and its power supply. The output waveforms of various spontaneous emission were observed and the formation mechanism of the laser output waveform was analyzed. The experimental results show that cathode sputtering is the main cause affecting laser output power and the waveform.
