Electronic properties, crystal structure and superconductivity of YBa_2Cu_3O_7, induced by substitution of variable valence ions Bi, Al and Ce for Cu(1), are studied.
The effect of Sr2+ substitution oh the structure was discussed in terms of tolerent facter (t), variable valence character of Ni ion (Mit+/ Ni3+) and distortion of NiO6 octahedra.

The fluorite structure characteristics of ceria were demonstrated. The function of electronic defect, oxide ion and its vacancies in ceria in catalytic oxidation was analyzed. The results show that the promoting effect of ceria in oxidation catalysts has closely connection with its variable valence between Ce 4+ and Ce 3+ , as well as the metal support interaction of ceria with transition metals such as copper.

When dissolved in the concentrated acid, it became the stable Ce(Ⅳ). The imperfect structures of a series of[(La_(1-x)Sr_x)_(1-y)□_y)](Mn_(1-2)□_2) (O_(3-(?))□_x)ABO_3 type compounds have been worked out by polycrystalline X-ray diffractometry. La~(3+) Sr~(2+) and Mn in variable valence states(Mn~(3+) and Mn~(4+))are located at A and B sites respectively. Besides, there are vacancies in A, B and O sites.
