Objective To investigate the effects of Radix Scutellariae on the growth, acid generation and glucan production of Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sanguis and Actinomyces viscosus and to find out whether a preparation of Radix Scutellariae can be of use for screening and as an effective agent to mediate the balance of oral microflora. Methods Streptococcus mutans 3a 3, Streptococcus sanguis SB 179 and Actinomyces viscosus ATCC 19246 were chosen as the experimental bacteria. Reflux extraction of Radix Scutellariae was carried out, and then the effects of Radix Scutellariae on the growth, acid generation and water insoluble glucan (WIG) production were assessed. Results It was found that Radix Scutellariae can inhibit the growth and glucan production of these bacteria effectively. Conclusion Radix Scutellariae may be an effective anti-caries agent, and further researches will be necessary to define its usefulness in this aspect.

目的 通过研究黄芩对致龋菌生长、产酸及产胞外多糖的影响 ,探讨黄芩是否能有效调节口腔菌群生态平衡。方法 首先测定黄芩对三种主要致龋菌——变形链球菌、粘性放线菌和血链球菌的最低抑菌浓度(MIC) ,再以低于 MIC的 4个浓度配制含药的 TPY液体培养基 ,测定黄芩对上述三种细菌产酸及产生水不溶性多糖能力的影响。结果 黄芩对上述三种细菌的生长有一定的抑制作用。黄芩还能够有效抑制血链球菌、粘性放线菌产生水不溶性葡聚糖。结论 上述结果提示 ,黄芩有可能是一种潜在的天然防龋药物 ,值得进行更深入的研究。

OBJECTIVE To study on the effects the role of Radix et Rhizoma Rhei on the growth, acidogenicity and glucan production of Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sanguis and Actinomyces viscosus as a preparation for screening an effective agent to mediate the balance of oral microflora. METHODS Streptococcus mutans 3a 3, Streptococcus sanguis SB 179 and Actinomyces viscosus ATCC 19246 were chosen as the experimental bacteria. Radix et Rhizoma Rhei were extracted by means of reflux extraction. Then the effects of Radix et Rhizoma Rhei on the growth, acidogenicity and glucan production were observed. RESULTS Radix et Rhizoma Rhei could inhibit the growth and acidogenicity of S.mutans, S.sanguis and A.viscosus , and the water insoluble glucan (WIG) production of S. mutans, effectively. CONCLUSION Radix et Rhizoma Rhei can inhibit the growth, acidogenicity and glucan production of oral bacteria, effectively.

目的 通过研究大黄对致龋菌生长、产酸及产胞外多糖的影响 ,探讨大黄能否有效调节口腔菌群生态平衡。方法 测定大黄变形链球菌、粘性放线菌和血链球菌的最低抑菌浓度MIC。再测定低于MIC的 4个浓度的大黄对 3种细菌产酸及产生水不溶性多糖能力的影响。结果 大黄对 3种细菌的生长、产酸均有一定的抑制作用 ;并能够有效抑制变形链球菌产生水不溶性葡聚糖。结论 大黄能有效抑制变形链球菌、粘性放线菌和血链球菌的生长、产酸以及抑制变形链球菌产生水不溶性葡聚糖。
