A considerable number of gametophytes was obtained at the same time. 30 selected young plants and all the gametophytes.were held in contai- ners with cold seawater and transported,in two batches,from Ensenada to Qingdao,China,by air.All of the plants and gametophytes survived a long journey lasting 9 and 8 days respectively. The young plants were transplanted on floating rafts and sea-bed,ge- nerally reaching a size of more than 11 m long by July,1979. The gametophytes were cultured in the laboratory in sterile,filtered seawater enriched with N 4 ppm,P 0.4 ppm,Fe 0.04 ppm and some sea mud extract.The photoperiod was 8L/16D at a light intensity of 500—2000 Lux.The seawater temperature ranged from 7—13℃.Seawater was renewed every third day.The sexual cells of gametophytes became matured in about 13 days.After 71 days,young sporophytes grew to a size of 0.1—0.5 cm, the largest ones being about 1.0 cm long.All of the young sporophytes were transplanted on floating rafts in the sea for further growth and their length reached about 10 cm after 60 days. In 1978 a hundred thousand of young Macrocystis sporophytes which settled on ropes,made of palm fibers and had a diamter of 0.5 em and a length of 12 m,were produced.

This paper presents a new processing technology of recovering mannitol from the solution in which the kelp, Laminaria japonica is steeped. The process is the application of the principle that the mannitol-boric acid complex can be retained by the strong basic resin, and consists of concentrating and separating mannitol from the steep and purifying the mannitol recovered. This paper presents a new processing technology of recovering mannitol from the solution in which the kelp, Laminaria japonica is steeped. The process is the application of the principle that the mannitol-boric acid complex can be retained by the strong basic resin, and consists of concentrating and separating mannitol from the steep and purifying the mannitol recovered. Experimental results prove that mannitol and boric acid form a 1:1 ratio complex. It is appropriate to follow this ratio in determining the amount of borax to be added to the steep, and about 83% of the mannitol in the steep involve in the formation of complex with boric acid, if the right amount of borax is added. It is better to treat the steep with borax first and then pass it through the OH-type resin column. For separating boron, it is important to remove part of the boric acid by crystallizing it out from the eluate prior to the esterification of boric acid with methanol. The rule of crystallizing boric acid alone out from the concentrated eluate is described. A flow diagram and a material balance of the process are given. By using the new processing technology, the yield of mannitol will be doubled comparing with that of the conventional process and the coal consumption will be greatly reduced.

本文介绍了利用硼酸——甘露醇络合物能被强碱性阴离子交换树脂所吸附的原理从稀水溶液中富集提取甘露醇的新工艺。通过实验证明在该络合物中硼酸与甘露醇克分子比为1:1,而当按此比例加入硼砂时仅有约83%,呈络合状态。先配成络合物溶液之后再通入离子交换柱是合理的。在硼的分离问题上,在酯化之前先用结晶法除去部分硼是非常重要的。文中阐明了硼酸从浓的络合物洗脱液中单独结晶的规律性,并用图解介绍了从海带浸泡水中提取甘露醇的新工艺的全部过程。按此新工艺可使甘露醇的成品率比现行工艺提高近一倍,而燃料消耗却可大大降低。

A simple method for spectropho-tometric determination of iodine in kelpis presented. The linear relationshipbetween the absorbances of solutionscontaining iodine and their respectiveconcentrations, ranging from 0.01 to1.0 mg/10 ml, is observed. The accu-racy and precision of the method provesto be satisfactory. The recovery is 95%-105%, and the coefficient of yariationless than 3%. The absorbance of chlo-roform containing iodine is stablewithin 8 hours. This method requiresonly small amount of common reagents,and no special equipment is needed.Itcan be applied in most general labora-tories. The kelp productions in the coastalarea of China are collected, includingZhoushan Islands, Qingdao, Qinhuang-dao, Dalian, Dandong, Fujian, Guang-dong, etc. By this method the iodinecontents of these samples are measured,ranging from 2.69 to 7.45 g/kg witha mean value of 5.13 g/kg(dry weight). According to the results obtainedin our laboratory for laver, mussel,jellyfish, it is indicated that thismethod can also be applied to determinethe contents of iodine in other marineproducts.

本文报道用分光光度法测定海带中碘的含量,此法具有准确可靠、简便快速的特点,由于试剂用量少,且不需特殊仪器,故便于推广。作者还研究了测试条件,并测定了我国沿海各区域海带的含碘量,其平均值为5.1克/公斤。
