This paper deals with the metabolism of citric acid in Schistosoma japonicum. The activities of all the enzymes involved in this system have been determined, and the important role of aerobic metabolism in the production of energy in worms has also been confirmed. On the basis of this finding, we have tried and found that sodium fluoroacetate and its derivatives, which inhibited the aconitase activity, all possessed potent schistosomicidal action. A method of chronic intubation into pulmonary artery and left atrium for measuring pressure was introduced. By means of these cannulae, it was able to measure simultaneously pulmonary arterial and left atrial pressure among dogs. It was also possible to measure them repeatedly in the same animal. A method of chronic intubation into pulmonary artery and left atrium for measuring pressure was introduced. By means of these cannulae, it was able to measure simultaneously pulmonary arterial and left atrial pressure among dogs. It was also possible to measure them repeatedly in the same animal. In addition, it was also convenient to administrate drugs directly into the pulmonary circulation or to collect blood samples from pulmonary artery or left atrium for biochemical tests, providing a relevant means for studying pathologic physiology of the pulmonary circulation and the metabolism of lungs.The mean pulmonary arterial pressure measured from 26 dogs was 17.9±3.7 and the mean left atrial pressure from 16 dogs, 3.3±2.0 cm H2O. There was a rather great individual difference in pulmonary arterial pressure but values measured in the same animal at different intervals were similar. Administration of normal saline in drips ( 100ml/30min ) did not effect these determinations. Experimental hypoxia and the administration of noradrenaline would result in pulmonary hypertension. It seemed likely that the hypoxic pulmonary hypertension was caused by the active vasoconstriction of pulmonary vassels, while the pulmonary hypertension induced by noradrenaline might be mainly due to the change of systemic blood pressure.

本文报告狗肺动脉和左心房的插管方法。通过导管可在闭胸和自然呼吸状态下直接测定狗的肺动脉压和左房压,且可反复测定;可通过导管向肺动脉内给药或自肺动脉、左心房采集血样,为研究肺循环的病理生理及肺代谢功能提供了条件。籍此法所测狗肺动脉和左心房压相对稳定。吸入低氧气体或注入去甲肾上腺素引起肺动脉压升高程度随剂量不同而差异显著。分析肺动脉与左房间压力梯度的变化可概略估价肺血管反应的情况。
