Based on the monthly mean 500hPa maps over the Northern Hemisphere for 42 years (1951-1992),zonal harmonic analysis at 35°N and 55°N were carried out and westerly intensities between 35-55°N were calculated.
Using the 500hPa global data in every day from 1980 to 1988, the zonal mean kinetic energy (Kz),the zonal eddy kinetic energy (KE)and kinetic energy of zonal wave number Kn(n = 1, 2, …,10) are computed in all zones.
The mean vertical wavelengths of the diurnal tides obtained from the zonal and meridional phases are 45km and 47km, respectively, and the corresponding downward phase velocities are 1.88km/h and 1.97km/h, respectively.
The results show that:the key region wherein the meridional/zonal wind impacts the 3-month later SSTA of Kuroshio lies in the west tropical Pacific(140～160°E,5°S～5°N)/the central tropical Pacific(160°E～150°W,5°S～5°N),respectively,and the influence of wind fields in the two key regions on the Kuroshio may persist for about six or more months;
The temperature of the first period of deformation is higher, and the dynamic -recrystallization of minerals is distinct,but S-C foliation and S-L fabric don't develop and deformation rocks don't show zonal distribution.
Quantum Symmetric Pairs and Their Zonal Spherical Functions
We study the space of biinvariants and zonal spherical functions associated to quantum symmetric pairs in the maximally split case.
As a consequence, there is either a unique set, or an (almost) unique two-parameter set of Weyl group invariant quantum zonal spherical functions associated to an irreducible symmetric pair.
These examples have an interpretation in the setting of radial functions on Rd and zonal functions on compact two-point homogeneous spaces, where they provide a new transform which possesses many properties of the classical Gabor transform.
Biorthogonal Locally Supported Wavelets on the Sphere Based on Zonal Kernel Functions
