The preventive effect and mechanism of propolis on caries were studied. Methods Before and after chewing propolis gum, SM bacteria, plague index and salivary pH were determined in 3 ~ 4 years old children. Results Propolis gum significantly reduced the plaque index, the numbers of SM, and raised the salivary pH. Conclusion Propolis gum can depress the growth of SM and development of plaque, increase the pH value in saliva, and is usefull in preventing caries.

目的 通过蜂胶口胶对变形链球菌、牙菌斑及唾液 pH值的影响,初步探讨蜂胶口胶的防龋作用与机理。方法 选择3~4岁儿童,分别在使用蜂胶。胶前后进行口腔变形链球菌的半定量测定,牙菌斑指数及唾液pH值的检测。结果 观察组使用蜂胶口胶后变形链球菌数量显著减少,牙菌斑指数降低,唾液pH值高于对照组。结论 蜂胶口胶抑制变形链球菌的生长繁殖,影响牙菌斑的形成,并升高唾液pH值,在龋病的预防上有开发价值。

OBJECTIVE:In order to evaluate the possibility of Chinese herbs as a new drug for preventing caries and periodontitis,the effects of ten extracts of Chinese herbs,including tea polyphenol,tannic acid,magnolol,chlorogenic acid,emodin,alpinetin,gentiopicrin,et al,on the growth of bacteria,which were known as pathogens of caries and periodontitis were determined.METHODS:Sensitive test of bacteria were carried out by dilution method.RESULTS:It indicated that the tea polyphenol and tannic acid could inhibit the bacteria growth more obviously than other herbs.CONCLUSION:Tea polyphenol and tannic acid will probably be a relatively ideal natural agent for oral care product which both decreases incidence of caries and periodontitis and maintains the balance of oral ecology system.

目的 :为评价常见中药对口腔主要致病菌作用及其作为口腔保健用药的可能性。方法 :从文献报导中有抗致龋作用的中草药中选择出 1 0种中药或天然植物进行 1 0种有代表性的口腔致病菌的药敏试验。结果 :茶多酚和鞣酸具有较强的抑菌和杀菌作用。结论 :初步认为茶多酚和鞣酸更适合作为预防和治疗口腔疾病的保健用药。
