Based on the marine investigation data,Box model and Two-dimensional numerical mode) are used in the computation of the average turn-over rate,half exchange period in Meizhou Bay. The computed results show that the average turn-over rate of Meizhou Bay is about 0. 127,average half exchange period is 7. 1d and half exchange period in the bead of the Meizhou Bay is over 19d.
In the model, the atmosphere is represented by a well-mixed box of CO 2 , where CO 2 is exchanged with CO 2 from the surface water. The carbon cycle model has been numerically integrated for 1 200 years to a quasi-equilibruium state. The results of the total CO 2 , alkalinity and dissolved oxygen concentration in sea water, the distributions of new production and differences in P CO 2 between the sea and the air are close to the observations.
The model gets rid of the shortcoming of the box model and includes the procedures such as the exchange of carbon dioxide between the atmosphere and ocean, photosynthesis and decay, calcium carbonate production and dissolution, and both kinds of suspended particles sinking into the deeper water.
