This is a workshop study based on 8 years of follow-up of workers engaged in semimechanized nitroamine dynamites production. The air concentration of TNT in loading and packing workplaces was lower than the hygienic standard. There was a positive correlation between the amount of urine metabolites of TNT and that of skin contamination measured just after work as was shown by 55 workers (97% of the staff). This is a workshop study based on 8 years of follow-up of workers engaged in semimechanized nitroamine dynamites production. The air concentration of TNT in loading and packing workplaces was lower than the hygienic standard. There was a positive correlation between the amount of urine metabolites of TNT and that of skin contamination measured just after work as was shown by 55 workers (97% of the staff). The regression equation was Y=0.3548+0.015X. The prevalence of cataract was 59.86%. The morbidity of cataract was increased in accordance with the amount of urine metabolites(mg/L/year)analyzed after work. The regression equation was Y=2.002+4.0816X. Morbidity being 1% is pathologically in response to 1.3 mg/L/yr of urine metabolites and 63.01mg of the whole skin contamination while the effectless level was 44.11mg. 1.1mg served as the safety limit of skin contamination, which was below the threshold of causing TNT-associated cataract in the case of 40 years of working life. We propose that 1.0mg be the safety limit of the whole skin contamination for the short exposure of a year. The safety limit is 25% of the effectless level of skln contamination and is the equavalent of the 10.0mg of skin contamination which in turn corresponds to 0.5mg/L/year of urine metabolites measured after work.

The influence of skin properties on the percurtaneous permeability of TNT have been studied using radioactive labelled ~3H-TNT in vitro skin model. The results showed that the percutaneous permeability of TNT can be effected by the animal species and different part of skin, The penetration of TNT through the injured skin was much easier compared with the intact skin. Therefore, workers should be educated not to use organic solent as skin cleaner.

There is a close association between the frequency of abnormal liver function tests and the concentrati6n of TNT in the air. 4. The waste products of TNT may reflect the TNT load level in the body. 5. To control the skin concentration is one of important measures to prevent the chronic hazards of TNT in lower concentration.

本文就三硝基甲苯(TNT)对工人健康的慢性危害进行了综合调查研究。结果表明:1.较低浓度的TNT对工人健康的慢性危害是存在的,尤其对眼晶状体及肝脏的损害更为突出,但对血液方面的影响不大。2.白内障的检出率与空气中TNT的浓度及工龄间存在一定程度的剂量一反应关系。3.肝功异常检出率与空气中TNT浓度亦存在密切相关。4.TNT代谢产物可在一定程度上反映体内TNT的负荷水平。5.控制皮肤污染是预防低浓度TNT'慢性危害的重要措施之一。
