    After a period of practice and close study,the Author now has some new ideas of the heavy- liquid water gauge.Besides technological imperfectness,its malfunction comes mainly from the following: 1.The condenser,in performing its task,will unavoidably have a lower back pressure than the boiler pressure,giving inaccurate indications on the gauge. 2.When pitching and rolling,new relative differences will appear in the liquid columns concerned,causing serious errors under their most unfavourable conditions. To avert...

To avert the above situation,the Author,after careful deliberation,presents a new idea of converting the condenser into an insulated device and lists the necessary conditions for the layout of the whole installation.As evidenced on a 10,000ton passenger liner,its error has been minimized to just about 3~4 millimeters. Errors can be minimized,but not eliminated,because back pressure is inherent with condensers, while an insulated device is invariably affected by the lack of external water supply.Accordingly, the following maximum allowable error so is quoted for the whole installation: for a range of water levels(L)under 150 m.m., ε_0=2~4 m.m. for a range of water levels(L)over 150 m. m., ε_0=(0.02~0.03)L m.m. As the heavy-liquid water gauge complies with this allowable error,it will not only render itself more practicable,but will open up new horizon for simplified photoelectric automatic control over boiler feed water,low level warning etc.,once small photoelectric control devices are fitted to it.

    作者经过一段时间的实践和总结,对水面计装置有了新的认识。认为其产生误差的原因除工艺方面之外,更主要的还有二个:1.装置的冷凝器,在完成它使命的过程中,将不可避免的使其背压小于锅炉的蒸汽压,结果给装置带来了误差。2.船舶在横倾、纵倾过程中,不可避免的使装置的有关液柱之间出现新的相对差值,在最不利的情况下就可给装置带来严重的误差。经过研究,针对这二个原因,作者提出了改冷凝器为绝热器的新概念,提供了今后装置在具体布置方面需要具备的必要条件。最后,在一艘万吨级客轮上,把该装置的误差率降到最低程度,误差的绝对值仅只有3~4毫米。该装置的误差率可以降为最小值,但不能全部消失。这是因为有了冷凝器就有背压影响的存在,作为绝热器又因没有外来水源的补充而受影响。作者对整个装置提出以下允许产生的最大误差ε_0值,水位行程 L 在150毫米以下,ε_0=2~4毫米,水位行程 L 在150毫米以上,ε_0=(0.02~0.03)L 毫米。重液式水面计装置在实现允许误差后,不仅存在提高其使用价值的意义,而且在重液式水面计本身安装小型光电控制设备,即可为锅炉给水、低水位警报等方面开辟简便光电自动控制的新途径。
