The using of steady flow testing to study the intake system of a V-8 gas engine waspresented. After testing and improvements the flow coefficient of that intake system reached 0. 608, an improvement of 41. 7% comparing with the old design. This 6. 6 I displacement V-8 gas engine, during dynamometer test reached 274 horsepower, with 41.6 PS/1. Theminimum WOT fuel consumption was 213 g/PS-Hr.

The author first reviewed various publications and papers about carburetor's fuel supply characteristics. Then a study of this characteristics was doneespecially on the effect of multi-venturi tubes and idling system on fuel supplycharacteristics. The conclusions are: multi-venturi tubes tend to make the mixture lean as air flow increases, and this tendency depends on the relative flowresistance of the smallest venturi tube. The fuel supplied through the idling system tends to increase the dispersions of the earburetor's characteristics. Theeffect of reverse flow of the idling system during wide-open-throttle will causea leaner mixture. This effect can only be countered by improving the carburetorall round.

Increasing the camshaft angle from 104°15' to106°45' was found to raise both power and torque. The single barrel carburetor waschanged to double barrel differential action one. The total effect of these above changes is that the engine horsepower is increased by 17. 9%, torque by 12. 1%, andfuel consumption is reduced by 16. 8% on the altitude mentioned above.Road test was conducted at an altitude of 1900m with different engine and axleratio service tests were also conducted Data recorded included amount of fuel used,temperature of engine coolant, lubricant, gear box and rear axle lubricant temperatures, etc. to confirm these improvements. Raising the rear axle gear ratio from 6. 33to 6. 83 was found to be good allround, but further tests and observations are required to confirm improvements in fuel consumption during actual usage.

本文介绍云南公路的海拔高度等情况,和提高东风EQ-140型货车性能的途径。首先在海拔高度1500米进行发动机台架试验以确定较好的压缩比、凸轮轴夹角、与化油器型式,最后确定当使用66汽油时,压缩比为7.2,凸轮轴夹角为106°45′,和H201型双腔差动式化油器为较好。按上述参数改进的发动机与原型发动机进行了装车整车性能与使用试验。并有后桥减速比原车的6.33和增加到6.83两种速比,试验时测出时间、距离、油耗量以及发动机冷却液,机油,变速器和后桥润滑剂的温度等,证明上述改进有较好的效果。用较大的减速比也有利,但尚需进行更长期的使用观察对比。
