This paper discusses the arc-extinction principle of an air-blast disconnecting switch and the methods of design of the air-blast equipment. The results of laboratory experiments and field tests of the interrupting capacity of this switch-under the conditions of 330 amperes of short circuit current in a 35 kv. power system, and--220 amperes of parallel-connected branch load current in 220 kv. power system,-are also given in this paper. Test results reveal that the length of arc is reduced considerably in such a disconnecting switch as compared with that in conventional disconnecting switch. After the test upon examination it was found there was only slight pitting on the arcing horns, thus it is concluded that air-blast disconnecting switch can work continuously, no without needing repairs or maintenance,

In the paper the optical images of SF6 gas flow field with arc in a puffer type interrupter was visualized and measured with a differential interferometer that just one Wollastone prism was used.The shape and volume of thermal boundary region( T. B. R.)and its features varied with the current were also diagnosed. According to the results obtained , the influence of T. B. R. on behaviour of gas flow in chamber and arc extinction are also analysed.

使用单Wollastone棱镜差分干涉仪对压气式变开距灭弧室模型里SF_6中电弧的气流场状况进行了光学显示测量,诊断出电弧周围热边界区的形状、大小和变化特性,同时,就该热气流边界区对灭弧室气流特性以及电弧熄弧过程产生的影响做了分析。
