    Torsional fatigue failures are the peculiar troubles in reciprocating engine drives. In recent years this kind of problems also occured in many marine diesel installations in our country. This paper gives a brief description to the problems on torsional fatigue failures as well as to the main reason of these problems, and this paper also intends to present some methods for eliminating the failures.As to torsional fatigue failures, the first mode of motion is most frequent. In general, shifting method should be used to prevent this failure. Changes in the elasticity of the shaft line or in the inertia of diesel flywheel can be made so as to remove the running speed sufficiently apart from important critical speed of first mode. The Second mode is also occured frepuently, a damper is usually msed to avoid it. If both aft and forward ends of the engine were used to deliver power or the shaft line is of long-shaft arrangement, the torsional fatigue failures of the third mode will be occurring, and care must be taken to it. Moreover, this paper also gives abrief discussion on other forms of torsional casualties, such as transmission gear beat, damper failure, camshaft break, etc.At last, this paper expounds several key links to which attention should be paid during the design, experiment and trial voyage stages of marine installations.

    扭振疲劳事故是往复式发动机动力装置特有的故障。近年来,我国一些船舶柴油机动力装置曾多次发生扭振事故。本文对这些故障情况及其发生原因作了简要介绍,並结合实例对消除故障的方法进行了深入的讨论。在扭振疲劳事故中,以单节扭振故障最为常见。通常采用调频法消除,可改变轴系柔度或柴油机飞轮惯量以使单节主临界转速远离常用转速。双节扭振故障也较常见,通常可加装减振器以消除之。如柴油机前后端同时输出功率,或轴系较长时,有可能产生三节扭振故障,也必须予以注意。此外,本文对扭振故障的其它形式,如传动齿轮敲击、减振器损坏、凸轮轴断裂等进行了简要分析。最后,本文阐述了为使柴油机动力装置具有良好的扭振特性,在其设计、试验和实船试航各阶段必须注意的几个环节。
