In this paper a modified method is recommended for the determination of rubber hydrocarbon present in kok-saghyz rubber by means of bromination.This method is rapid and accurate.A conversion factor of 0.298 is obtained for con- verting rubber bromide content to rubber hydrocarbon content for kok-saghyz rubber.The conversion factor agrees well with the theoretical value.

本文报告了用重量溴化法测定青橡胶草生胶中橡胶烃的各种适宜条件,并求得了由溴化橡胶换算为橡胶烃的换算因数为0.298。三氯甲烷可用来防止溴化橡胶的结膜,同时并可防止溴与橡胶的置换反应。每10毫升橡胶液应加溴化溶液2毫升。溴化反应可在常温进行。三氯醋酸可使橡胶容易溶解,对分析结果无显著影响,用或不用均可。溴化法无论在分析时间上和精确度上,均较直接抽提法和间接测定法为优。

An investigation of the rheological relationships between shear stress shear rate apparent bulk viscosity temperature was carried out by examining the viscous flow of slightly milled native Hevea rubber (i) The Eisenschitz's equation for non-Newtonian flow has been verified by the experiments on the dependence of shear rate on shear stress. An investigation of the rheological relationships between shear stress shear rate apparent bulk viscosity temperature was carried out by examining the viscous flow of slightly milled native Hevea rubber (i) The Eisenschitz's equation for non-Newtonian flow has been verified by the experiments on the dependence of shear rate on shear stress. By this equation, the apparent viscosity can be referred to the Newtonian viscosity η_0 (at σ=0). The parameter (G_i=3.30×10~5 dynes/cm~2), interpreted as an internal modulus of rigidity, was found to be practically independent of temperature in the range of 50-90℃, thus agreeing with the results by treating Saunder and Treloar's data. (ii) For the shear rate dependence of apparent viscosity, when the number of Khun segments per unit volume was taken into account for the calculation of retardation time τ_1=2.84η_0 [J_e]_∞, the Debye-Bueche's equation was found to be able to fit into our data at moderate low shear rates. The values of steady-state elastic compliance [J_e]_∞ were determined by elastic-recovery experiments. Furthermore, the internal shear modulus Gi could be thus calculated by combining the Eisenschitz's equation with the Debye-Bueche's one. (iii) From the experiments on the temperature dependence of viscous flow under various stresses, the apparent activation energy ΔE_η was found to be 12.7 kcal/mole; and therefrom, by estimation, the unit of flow-the Eyring segment would be 30 carbon atoms long. All determinations of the flow rate under constant stress were carried out in a Hppler parallel-plate plastometer, used as a viscoelasticity-rheometer according to the theory developed by Dienes.

An equipment for the determination of intrinsic viscosity under nitrogen atmosphere in the darkness is hereby described. It gives reproducible viscosity data and reliable values of intrinsic viscosity.A sample of first grade smoked sheet of plantation Hevea rubber was fractionated under nitrogen atmosphere in the darkness. The result shows a rather wide distribution in molecular weights, including a group of molecules having molecular weight above 2-3×10~6, This is in agreement with some recent results of fractionation studies found in literature. _n of our sample is 1.75×10~6, while an osmotic measurement gave _n =1.3×10~6.
