The investigations into premixed flame propagating in flame arrester elements are quite important for design and application of flame arresters since flame arresters are widely used in combustible gas transport pipe network in industry to avoid disaster explosion.
Wherever gases or vapors are explosive or liquids are flammable, the flame arresters approved according to the European Directive 94/9/EG (also called ATEX) should be used. In-line deflagration/detonation flame arrester, liquid detonation flame arrester and safety jet were presented to protect the waste gas cleaning plant against explosion.
The cause for the vault instability of a residual oil tank((5 000) m~3)was analysed with the outer pressure destabilizing theory. The result indicates that the negative pressure in the tank exceeds the limit of the critical load and distorts the vault. To ensure the safety of the tank,the management of the breather valve and flame arrester is strengthened by examining and repairing the tank and accessories in time so as to use it reasonably.
For the operation of oil tank, although the relevent safety and technical conditions (codes and/or standards) are being perfected,some unsafe factors,like tank earthing device and tank accessaries (breathing valve/hydraulic safety valve,flame arrester)exist.
Behavior of a premixed flame propagating and quenching in narrow channel was simulated to study the influence of the temperature of flame arrester cell(parallel plate) on flame propagating and quenching. The relationship of flame velocity,channel gap and quenching length at different temperatures of flame arrester cell was obtained: the quenching length is larger for the higher temperature of flame arrester cell at the same flame velocity and channel gap;
