This paper presents the laboratory sintering test of mixture from Waitoushan magnetic concentrates and about 40% return fines with acceptable quality. The result shows that at the return fines (0~5mm) rate of 35%~40% the high quality sinter with higher strength, lower FeO content and better metallurgical properties could be producted using deep bed sintering and afterheating techniques.

his paper compared the conventional deep-bed sintering processwith the MPS process with respect to their production manner and effects. The relationship between this two processes was also analyzed. It is clarified that the MPS process is a sophisticated and developed deep-bed sintering process ,and will be one of the developing directions of sinter industry.
