The study examined characteristics of physical education teacher preparation in the United States and made a comparison between China and the United States. Analysis involves requirement for enrollment, system, credit and structure of program, curriculum provision and student teaching. Results indicate that typical four years program for physical education teacher preparation in the U.S. requires 127 credits, including general edtication (45credits), professional education (24 credits), physical education (46 credits) and electives (12 eredits). Compared with the situation in China, Programs in the U.S. are more comprehensive, emphasizing general education, professional education, theoretical courses and training of ability. Programs in China are more specialized, paying more attention to physical education courses, particularly activity courses. Faetors leading to the differences were discussed.

本研究分析了美国体育师资培养的情况与特点,并结合我国情况进行了比较,对形成差异的原因进行了讨论.研究涉及入学要求、学制、学分与教育计划的结构、课程组成、教育实习等问题.结果表明,美国四年制大学本科培养体育师资的典型计划中,总学分为127学分,包括普通教育课45学分、教育专业课24学分、体育专业课46学分、选修课12学分.与我国相比,美国更重视普通教育课、教育专业课及理论课,注重能力的培养,教育计划综合性强.我国更重视专业课,技术课比例较大,教育计划专业性强.
