A fire-retardant system of polyammonium phosphat/pentaerythritol/melamine has been studied in detail. The FTIR spectrum shows that polyammonium phosphate will be decomposed by heat into polyphosphoric acid and polymetaphosphoric acid, which can either promote the dehydration of organic compound to form char lager and cover...

The char layer formed on the flammablc substrate is determined amorphous, which can effectively barrier the heat and air.
