In curvilinear coordinates, a numerical simulation model for wave propagation on non-uniform current in water of slowly varying topography was presented with employing self-adaptive grids method.
By assuming that the vortex of current is small and that the current velocity is constant along vertical direction, a mild-slope equation for wave propagation on non-uniform flow is deduced from basic hydrodynamics equations and the terms of 2 hh and ( hh) 2 are included in the equation.
Thus, an extended mild-slope equation is obtained, in which the effects of refraction, diffraction, reflection, current, bottom friction, wind input and wave nonlinearity are considered comprehensively.
The governing equation was described by the time dependent parabolic equation which is deduced from the elliptic type of mild slope equation on non-uniform, it avoids the drawback to common parabolic form of mild slope equation.
According to this mechanism, a non-uniform current brings changes to the breaking criteria of short wind waves through modulating the surface drift, and hence enhances or weakens wave breaking.
On the basis of the ordinary method for calculating the screw performance and pressure distributions on screw blades, this paper presents a simplified method for estimating the extent of cavitation on screw blades operating in nonuniform flow The simplified calculation method can be used to estimate the extent of cavitation appearing on screw blades in the light of the geometry of the screw, the wake distribution and the operating conditions. Also it can give the relation between the arising of cavitation a...
In accordance with the characteristic of kinetic factor in estuary a theoretical system which consists of three primary equations, two subsidiary equations and one requirement conditions for the stability of boundary is estab- lished on the basis of kinetic law in muddy estuary. We have presented in this paper three methods of model tests to combine the characteristics of practice problems and data probably provided and have also used these tests to solve the problems in engineering.(1) Method of theoretica...
