To evaluate the effect of intracavitary radiation for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, 115 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma were treated by external irradiation plus intracavitary radiation from March 1973 to August 1978. The external irradiation dosage to the primary lesion was 53~76 Gy/6~8 weeks.
Gy over 3.5 weeks, then with external and intracavitary radiation used concomitantly ( 5.0?Gy per fraction, once a week to 10?Gy in 2 fractions) with irradiation skipped on the day of intracavitary radiation. The total dose of external irradiation was 50? Gy.
Comparison between conventional fractionation, late-course accelerated hyperfractionation and external beam combined with intracavitary radiation in the treatment of locally moderate and advanced esophageal carcinoma
[Conclusion] If intra-arterial chemotherapy is designed rationally and combined with intracavitary radiation, it can cure patients with cervical cancer at stage ⅢB, and also it may decrease the radiation complications.
The therapeutic results of high dose intracavitary radiation plus external irradiation in 70 cases of intermediate and late stage thoracic esophageal cancers were evaluated with stress on optimum dosage.
In a total of 284 patients with endometrial carcinoma, stage I, the influence of preoperative intracavitary radiation on the postoperative morbidity was evaluated.
The patient was then treated with intracavitary radiation and chemothera py for the control of bleeding.

The high-dose rate after-loading intracavitary radiation therapy is suitable mainly for the treatment of cervix cancer. So far some cancers of head and neck, skin, penis, rectum ect., especially MPC have become also important indications. There are two ways to insert radiation source to the nasopharyngeal cavity, one through mouth and another through nasal cavity. Each method has its own indications. Using 4.63ci Cobalt 60 ball, we have treated 36 cases with the applicator of nasal cavity. ...
Af terloading intracavitary radiation was used in twenty pathologicalyproven nasophayngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients after cobalt-60Radiotherapy. Seven of them had recurrence after two courses of Radiotherapy. A special appli-cetor with a fixatron set was introduce into the nasopharyngeal cavity through the month. 500-800 rad dose was used every time, once or twice every week, average 5 (range 4-9) doses were given in one course. The total dose was 1600-6500 rad.In the short-term follow-up period...
Post-radiation proctitis is a most common complication in high dose rate afterloading intracavitary radiation therapy for cervix cancer . Chinese Herbal medicinal preparation "RP-I" enema was used for the prevention of proctitis. Since January 1988 to February 1990, 100 cases of Gynecobgical tumors were treated, as compared with 100 cases of control. The incidence rate in the treated group was 14% , while in the control group was 37% (P<0.01). Applicaation of "RP-I" was simple, easy, safe ...
