Based on the analysis of the sporo-pollen composition, an attempt is made in this paper to infer that the basin has undergone three developmental stages of paleovegetation and paleoclimate from Eocene to Oligocene. According to the characters and contents of different groups in the fossil biota and the sporo-pollen to algae ratio, it might be inferred that the paleogene basin was an ancient lake on coastal plain.
