Horizontal earthquake load has been generally assumed as the decisive role in damaging structures. Horizontal earthquake load has been generally assumed as the decisive role in damaging structures. According to our field investigation of damage to chimneys, it is shown that this traditional idea is not correct and the vertical seismic load does play the major role in the damage. Besides, the damage mechanism of multiple peripheral cracks on brick chimneys is described. Based on literature [1], both the maximum value of the horizontal seismic load and the minimum value of the vertical seismic load are computed for all damage patterns of chimneys: inclined cracks, dislocation, and fractured section near the top of the chimney in order to show that the vertical seismic load plays a major role in damage to chimneys, as mentioned above. For multiple peripheral cracks of brick chimney, the damage mechanism is also explained by computation.Continuous attenuation of longitudinal wave in transmission is considered, and so its computation formulas are not exactly the same as those in reference [1].

在文献[1]中我们根据砖烟囱的震害证明了水平地震力起决定性作用的传统观点是错误的,实际上是竖向地震力在起主要作用。同时还阐述了砖烟囱出现多条裂缝的破坏机理。本文在文献[1]的基础上对烟囱出现斜缝、错位及破坏截面接近顶端等现象,计算其最大水平地震力及最小竖向地震力以证明上述观点.对出现的多条裂缝,也用计算数字来说明其破坏机理.

Pure iron foils were implanted with Fe ions of 27 keV at the range of doses from 2×1016 to 5×1016 ions/cm2. The damage structure was observed by CEMS. The results show that there are three sites: Fe atom without surrounding vacancy, Fe atom associated with one vacancy, and with two or more vacancies. The temperature and the migration energy of monovacancy were estimated to be about 100℃ and 0.9 eV, respectively. The vacancy thermal release energy was 1.1eV.

用27keV的~(57)Fe离子注入金属铁箔,注入剂量在2×10~(16)到5×10~(16)个/cm~2之间。由内转换电子穆斯堡尔谱观察到存在三个铁原子位:未受扰动的α-Fe原子位、同一个空穴相连结的铁原子位、以及同二个或更多空穴相结合的铁原子位。据三种位的铁原子不同的退火行为,得到单空穴迁移的温度和能量分别为100℃和0.9eV左右,空穴的热释放能量大约为1.1eV。

A lot of lives and property will be lost if structures collapse during earthquake. It is not only need much money to strength the damaged structures, but that it is not easy to recover the damaged structures as them used to be. It is not only need much money to strength the damaged structures, but that it is not easy to recover the damaged structures as them used to be. Thus, it is necessary to make structures not to collapse during strong earthquake and to make structures not be damaged due to action of weak earthquake which occurs more frequently. That is the purpose of seismic resistant principle so called "not collapse in strong earthquake and not be damaged in weak earthquake"proposed by seismic design code in our country. It is a pity that there is no corresponding ways or practical method in the code to deal with how to attain the goal. Some formulations and concerned problems of the code are discussed in this paper for consideration.

地震时房屋结构如果发生倒坍,就会造成人民生命财产的重大损失;发生了破坏修复不仅要花去很多费用,而且还不易恢复原有强度。因此,要求房屋遭到强烈地震时不会倒坍,遭到出现频数较多的较弱地震时不会破坏,是很有必要的。我国抗震规范提出“大震不倒,小震不坏”的设防原则,也就是这个目的。遗憾的是:规范对于如何才能达到这一目的并无相应的对策或具体内容。本文对规范的提法以及有关问题,提出一些意见以供讨论。
