The new method is to have heavy application of nitrogen fertilizer in the early and late stages and light application in the middle stage of barly growth.It has been proved through years of experiments and practice to be an effective method to achieve high barley yield,when the same amount of fertilizer is applied to the same number of basic seedlings,this method meets the needs of high-yield barley,earlier and more rapid tillering with proper stand and moderate curve are obtained.Individual tillers have a better accumulation of dry substance and a more reasonable distribution and grow well resulting in the formation of big ears.The ear-formaing rates from tillers with 5,4 and 3 leaves during jointing stage are 93%,64% and 29% respectively,higher than those that are fertilized with the usual method.Statistics shows that in a field of high-yield of barley with 350 to 460kg per mu,there is an average increase of 20% to 30%.This new fertilizer application method also saves labour,power and production cost,and grives high economic benifit.

豫西旱地小麦生产目前多采取前作收后先耕翻晒垡,直到9月上、中旬才将各种肥料(粗、化肥)结合第二次耕地时施入土壤。本试验将施肥时间提前60~70d,于雨季来临前的6月下旬把各种肥料全部施上,以后遇雨只耙不犁,种时也不再翻耕。通过3年试验和一年大面积示范,此处理法较以往习惯施肥办法可增产10.1%~16.5%。
