A type of microstructures corresponding to those described by Effective Medium Approximation (EMA) are examined. By using decoupling approximation and spectral representation, we investigate the effect of the depolarization factor on effective nonlinear response. Numerical results show that the linear ab- sorption coefficient and the effective nonlinear susceptibility are strongly dependent on the depolariza- tion factor and thus on the shape of the inclusion.
