In experiments, the detached lettuce (Lactura sativa) leaves and spinach(Spinacia oleraceae) plants preincubated at 0℃ and 20℃ (spinach) or 30℃ (let-tuce) in the dark were used as materials. Temperature induced electron transferchanges in these chloroplasts were investigated. The main results of these experi-ments are summerized as follows: (1) Effect of preincubating time course on the change in the rate of Hillreaction both with DCIP and Fecy in lettuce chloroplasts was demonstrated. In experiments, the detached lettuce (Lactura sativa) leaves and spinach(Spinacia oleraceae) plants preincubated at 0℃ and 20℃ (spinach) or 30℃ (let-tuce) in the dark were used as materials. Temperature induced electron transferchanges in these chloroplasts were investigated. The main results of these experi-ments are summerized as follows: (1) Effect of preincubating time course on the change in the rate of Hillreaction both with DCIP and Fecy in lettuce chloroplasts was demonstrated. Af-ter 8 hrs. of preincubation at 0℃ temperature, in the dark, the rate of Hill reac-tion with DCIP is significantly higher than that at 30℃. On the other hand, thereis no difference in the rate of Hill reaction with Fecy at that time. In spinach thecharacteristic phenomenon appeared at 16 hrs. of preincubation at 20℃. (2) Effects of artificial electron donors on the recovery of activity of Hillreaction with DCIP and Fecy after inhibition by DCMU were studied. (3) Temperature induced effect upon photophosphorylation activity was alsoobserved. (4) Ultrastructure of chloroplasts from 16 hrs. preincubated at 0℃ and 30℃temperature spinach leaves in the dark had prominent larger grana than that of 20-C. From above results we confirmed following condusion that there is a tempera-ture induced electron transfer change in spinach and lettuce chloroplasts in thedark. It is suggested that the rate determining step of Hill reaction with DCIPand Fecy in these chloroplasts is likely in different site of photosynthetic electron chainor thylakoid membrane, we also speculate that there is a fine structure in photo-system Ⅱ. Although its mechanism is not yet clear.

GA_3 has no flower inducing effect when applied to P nil grown under strictlynon-inductive conditions. When the photoperiodic treatment is suboptimal, anapplication of GA_3 may enhance the flowering response. Whenever the flowerformation is suppressed by application of growth retardants such as CCC, B_9 andAncymidol, a GA_3 treatment can offset the inhibitory effects by restoring the celldivision in the shoot apex. It is concluded that GA_3 promotes flowering proba-bly by stimulating mitotic activity...

However, the results in the present work indicate that GA_3 seems also invol-ved in the process of photoperiodic induction in this SDP. In a night break ex-periment, the seedlings were exposed to red light (4,500 erg/cm~2/sec) for 10 mi-nutes each time, at the start, and at the beginning of each four-hour interval ofthe 16-hour inductive dark period. When the dark treatment was interrupted atthe 8th hour, i.e. near the middle of dark period, flowering was completely pre-vented and no application of GA_3 had any effect at all. When red light was givenat the 4th or 12th hour of the dark period, flowering responses were both reduced.What is of special interest is that the flowering response reduced by red light in-terruption at the 4th hour of the dark period could be restored by applying GA_3,but the same did not hold in the case of the dark period being interrupted at 12thhour. Here, it seems that possibly GA_3 was acting on the process of dark reac-tion in floral induction rather than on floral initiation at the apex. Probablely GA_3 exercises a two-fold function on P. nil, floral induction whenphotoperiodic induction is suboptimal or interrupted and to overcome floral-in-hibitory factors in the apical meristem.

就 Pharbitis nil的开花而言,GA_3只能配合光周期诱导起辅助因素的作用。在有抑制开花因素存在时,GA_3能作用于顶端,克服抑制,而利于花的发端。然而光周期诱导不足或暗期的诱导过程受到干拢时,GA_3似也能促进叶中光周期诱导过程。看来 GA_3对P.nil开花似乎具有促进叶中的光周期诱导过程和在顶端克服抑制促进花发端的双重作用。
