Starting from the theory for solving the three-dimensional flow by cross iteration of two families of stream-surfaces, proposed first by Professor Wu, the present paper gives a "stream-surface coordinate" iterative method in arbitrary through flow sections. Through the use of two sets of non-orthogonal stream-surface coordinates suited for various kind of turbomachines, velocity gradient equations along these two sets of coordinate directions are iteratively solved, and the complete three-dimensional flow fields...

A comparison has been made with the result, of the common-used two-dimensional stream-surface solution. The calculation has also been made for a. tested centrifugal compressor impeller, the comparison with measurement result is satisfactory.

In the first part the shapes and parameters of the toppers of wheel type, driven knife type and slide feeler type were respectively discussed and taking the wheel type as a typical, the relationship of machine speed to the moment of inertia of its mechanism, the pressure of its pring and the spacing and height difference of beet tops. is obtained In the econd part the constrution and parameters of wheel type lifter-one of the ommon used types-were studied and the motion of the root on the surface of inger wheel was also theoretically analysed permitting to determine the optimum hape and dimensions. Finally, a graphical analysis of the chain speed of root elevator ensuring root a proper throwing into the box was suggested.
