The gradient vector formula of augmentation objective function including generation cost and penalty function under the equality constraints is derived. After simplifying the gradient vector formula thc quasi-gradient vector formula is inferred according to the feature of power systems. The optimal real power flow is computed on the basis of the quasi-gradient vector by means of gradient method, conjugate gradient method and DPF method. Test resulus of three test systems (11 bus, 44 bus and 118 bus IEEE system) are presented, which show the new algorithm can not only satisfy the security constraints but also minimize generation cost.
