The object of this study was to determine the usefulness of exogenous electriccurrents in orthodontic tooth movement in patients.Maxillary cuspids were movedin eight young patients by 80 to 100g force.In addition,an electric device wasplaced,delivering 15 to 20 microamperes of direct current to one maxillary cusp-id.Teeth treated by force and electricity moved significantly faster than thosetreated by force alone.

本研究通过8例病案治疗初步得出,应用微电流与机械力合用移动牙齿时,其移动速度比单纯用机械力的移动速度为快,此结果与 Davidovitch 的实验研究结果基本相符。至于微电流如何能加速牙移动的机理,有待进一步研究,对于矫治器的恒流装置,需进一步改进。

For the purpose of research of the effects of some medicines on the speed of orthodontic tooth movement, 15 rabbits were divided into 4 groups of PGE2, cAMP, asprin and controls, respectively. It is shown that PGE2 and cAMP gorups were significantly different as compared with the control group (P<0.05). It is believed that PGE2 and cAMP may promote tooth movement. The asprin group is of no significant difference as compared with other groups. The effect of asprin will be further studied.
