This paper derives the dynamic model of Advanced Static Var Generator (ASVG). The ASVG model has been interfaced with the power system transient stability program. A computer program was developed to analyse the ASVG dynamic performance in a multi-machine system. Computer tests show clearly the active effect of ASVG on the system stability, critical clearing time and transmission line capacity, as well as the voltage dip at sudden change of load.
