It can be said that the development of PDC petroleum coring bits by low-temperature electroplating technology is a new invention. The technology not only prevents the PDC from heat damage to the greatest extent, But also presents high soldering strength of the PDC. The present paper also introduces the theory base for the design of bit parameters in order to improve the economic targets of the PDC petroleum bits, such as back rake, side rake, the exposure height and arrangement of PDC. The design shows satisfactory results in the test.

According to the requirement of Chuan Zhong Oilfield, Chuan Shi-Christensen Co. Ltd has designed and manufactured the C201B bi-center coring bit and its diameter is 153 mm (6"). Through three continuously coring tests between 3025 meters to 3066. 48 meters in Jiao 57 well, the core recovery is 98. 48 % and the enlargement is 7. 5 %. Compared to the conventional coring bits and roller bits,the hole enlargement increased by 6. 47 percent. This coincides with the design requirements
