The pioneering techniques of construction, such as “flying fox (cradle)” and “main cable erection construction without temporary bridge” facilitated the erection and joining of 100-ton box deck beams. After two years in operation, the bridge is certified as good in its structure and performance. In this article, main tower erection, rock anchoring, prestressing and erection of beams, main cable erection without temporary bridge are described.

Yichang Changjiang Highway Bridge is a project on the State Arterial Route that spans the Changjiang River.The main span of the bridge is a 960 m steel suspension bridge.Main cable is the main component of large scale modern suspension bridge.In this paper,main cable erection construction of Yichang Changjiang Highway Bridge is described,Meanwhile,it approachs the causes why those problems arised and the ways to solute them in the light of the practical situation of construction.
