Different load tests are performed in labratory with different wheels grinding stainless steels and alloys. It is found that the wheels made from brown fused alumina abrasive are unsuited to high load conditioning for its low toughness and so the high toughness abrasives eg. zirconia-alumina have to be used to decrease the wheel wear rate. Slight denudation and metal's burning adhension are observed on wheel surface, and the microcrystalline fused alumina or sintered alumina is suggested to reduce the slight denudation on wheel surface. The grain shedding occured from wheel surface is due to the split between grain surface and adhensive or the unsufficient bonding strength resulting from the high grinding temperature. Suggests the measures taken for improving the bonding strength of adhensive at high grinding temperature, such as renovating the abrasive surface and equalizing the cubic expansion coefficient of abrasive to that of adhensive, or inversely lowering the grinding temperature. With these measures taken to improve the existing wheel grinding ratio is possible.

An approach to the solid phase bonding/superplastic forming (SPB/SPF)process of commercial aluminium alloy LF6 sheets was made and proved succes-ful. It is shown that the warm-rolled commercial LF6 sheets after warm bond-ing rolling exhibit their superplasticity and availability to SPF. The greater thebonding rolling reduction, the greater the bonding strength, and the influenceof diffusion annealling temperature on bonding strength is significant afterbonding.
