    Based on monthly mean OLR data, and wind field at 300hPa, and by applying Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) technique, the relationship between the convective activities over the Pacific and China's winter monsoon was mainly studied. It is revealed that the mean meridional circulation in the tropical Pacific ocean has two different basic patterns: Hadley cell and Anti-Hadley cell. It is revealed that the mean meridional circulation in the tropical Pacific ocean has two different basic patterns: Hadley cell and Anti-Hadley cell. The transformation of one type of the mean meridional circulation to the other not only has the seasonal variation but also the non-seasonal long-term variation. The intensity of meridional circulation has a long-term fluctuation with the period of 32-48 monthes.It is also found that the transformation of mean meridional circulation patterns is closely connected with the variation of the vertical circulation on the vertical plane along the equator. There exists a low-frequency coupling oscillation between them. The transformation of atmospheric vertical circulations would have some importent influences on the long-range weather variation in this region.

In this paper a simple air-sea coupled model is used to investigate the effect of large scale air-sea interaction during epochs of anomalous warm sea surface temperature over the equatorial Pacific (El Nino). In this paper a simple air-sea coupled model is used to investigate the effect of large scale air-sea interaction during epochs of anomalous warm sea surface temperature over the equatorial Pacific (El Nino). The study focus on the possible atmosphere-ocean feedback mechanisms in relation to a bimodel climatic state over the tropical Pacific observed during El Nino (Wyrtki,1982 and Lau and Chan 1983 a, b). Results of the numerical experiments show that the surface wind over the western Pacific and that over the eastern Pacific play markedly different role in the inter action. The net result of the interaction is the generation of a persistent, slowly westward propagating positive sea surface temperature anomaly along the equator in agreement with observation. It is also suggested that as a result of the coupling between the Pacific Walker circulation and the largescale oceanic anomaly, an interactive system is more likely to support a strong El Nino than a non-interactive system.
