Hence, by applying suitable technology i. e. intentionally changing the shape of the solid-liquid interface, we can obtain crystals in which not only the dislocations are decreased, but also the facets are eliminated.

CW Nd-YAG laser was used to investigate annealing behavior of <100> Si implanted with Bi ions. The backscattering and channeling measurments indicated that CW Nd-YAG laser annealing is one of nonmelting solid phase epitaxial regrowth process, which optimizes complete recovery of lattice damage and high substitutibility of Bi atoms without impurity redistribution. In the high power segmented CW Nd:YAG laser concave surfaces ground directly on laser rods have been employed to compensate the thermal focusing effect. We have obtained experimentally 100~150 watts output power in less than 10mrad from a laser of two Nd:YAG rods in series.
