This report gives a general discussion of the lateral-directional dynamic flying qualities of military airplanes, based mainly on the Military Flying Qualities Specification of Piloted aircraft, MIL-F-8785 B issued in 1969, to provide the necessary background for drafting the flying quality specification of our own country.The lateral-directional mode characteristics is discussed first, followed by a discussion on lateral-directional dynamic response characteristics, the order being the same as that adopted by MIL-F-8785 B.In the discussion about mode characteristics, comparison is made between 8785 B and those specifications issued before 8785 B, such as 8785, AP970 and OTT, and explanation of the background for- the adoption of each criterion is given wherever possible.In the discussion about response characteristics, an analysis of the difference between 8785 B and "Proposed Revision to MIL-F-8785 B" (ref 5) is given.

A mathematical model to predict military aircraft cockpit temperature and its applications are discussed. The thermal state of the cockpit is investigated by macroexamination and described by cabin thermal capacity determined from experiment. The theoretical results of the model were compared with previous experimental results. It was found that the error between measured and calculated temperatures is less than 6%. This model is relatively appropriate to the practice.In the applications of the cabin temperature model, the cockpit-human thermoregulation model is mainly discussed. The investigation of this problem is very important to the environmental centrol system (ECS)of a high-performance aircraft, it can be used to research and analyse physio-logical thermal stress and the influence of some parameters of ECS on physiological thermal stress. At present the investigation of the man-ECS interface is a missing link, this report is the first to attempt this problem.This report is adopted from Ref.1.

This paper discusses the design thinking for structural strength of modern aircraft from evolution of Amercian Military Aircraft Specification of Strength and Stiffness, and describes the researches on safety life, damage tolerance(i.e.safety life with supplementary damage tolerance) and durability ( i.e.durability with supplementary damage tolerance), etc. Meanwhile, this paper discusses also the necessity and feasibility for the employment of durability and damage tolerance in designing the landing gear and gives some teachnical data and specifications appropriate for design.

本文从美国军用飞机强度和刚度规范的演变来探讨近代飞机结构强度的设计思想,並对有关具体实施中的分析与试验验证要求作了较详细的论述,涉及安全寿命设计、损伤容限设计(即辅以损伤容限设计的安全寿命设计)和耐久性设计(即辅以损伤容限设计的耐久性设计)等。同时,研究了起落架结构采用耐久性与损伤容限设计的必要性与可行性,提供了若干可供设计参考的技术数据与规定。
