A violent earthquake of 7.8 grade in magnitude with epicentral intensities of XI occur-red in Tangshan,a coastal city in east part of China,on 28th July 1976 before dawn.The center of the earthquake was located at densely populated urban districts.Over242,000 deaths and more than 164,000 severely wounded resulted.The People′s Libera-tion Army(PLA)joined in the disaster relief work promptly.Large numbers of medicalpersonnels were sent to disaster area to take medical care of casualties in collaborationwith civilian disaster relief force.Besides,a number of rear hospitals were appointed forthe admission of casualties.The medical support was divided into 3 echelons.The first andsecond echelons were deployed on the disaster site.Their main tasks were first aid,tria-ge,initial treatment and evacuation.Those casualties that could not be cured within onemonth were evacuated by air or train to rear hospitals of third echelon for further trea-tment.In total,the medical facilities of PLA gave treatment to 2,450,000 wounded andsick,first aid to 160,000 critically wounded,and performed surgical operations in morethan 41,000 cases.More than 22,000 cases were admitted to the military hospitals witha cure rate of over 96%.The environment of the disaster area was heavily polluted.6 military and 15 civilianantiepidemic teams with more than 1,300 persons participated in the antiepidemic workincluding sanitary treatment of corpses,disinfection of drinking water,health supervision of food,disinfection and disinsectization,prophylactic vaccination,and mass patriotic publichealth campaign,thus effectively prevented epidemics of communicable diseases.At thesame time they helped people of disaster area to restore and rebuild medical facilitiesand hospitals and train medical personnels with success.The planning and conduction of medical support in this earthquake catastrophe wassimilar to those in a sudden occurrence of mass battle casualties.This actual experienceleads to the conclusion that the military medical service must be quickly responsiveto any emergency,and be well prepared in mind,organization,training and equipmentsin order to be able to cope with any emergency at any time.

The thermal insulation requirements of military footwear (IRMF) were determined in a cold chamber at 2 to -22℃,windlessly,for 5 hours.The subjects at rest and light work states wore suitable clothes to keep the feet skin temperatures of more than 75% of the subjects not lower than 10℃,or should return to 10℃ within 30 minutes whenever they dropped below it.The measured IRMF(clo) in still air were as follows:at rest,1.76(2℃),2.87(-8℃),3.73(-15℃) and 4.43(-20℃);at light work,1.76(-6℃),2.30(-16℃) and 3.00(-22℃).The effect of wind speeds on thermal insulation value of military footwear (winter,fur) was studied,using the thermal manikin,in a cold chamber at -1℃.The results showed that clo values decreased with wind speeds:2.33(0.2m/s),2.06(1.0m/s),1.83(2.0m/s),and 1.73 (3.0m/s).From the above results,the following experimental equations were derived for calculating the insulation requirements (y,clo) of military footwear at different air temperatures (x℃) and wind speeds (m/s)(1) y=2.8617-0.1205x-Ia (for rest)(2) y=2.1525-0.0751x-Ia (for light work)where Ia is the thermal insulation value of air boundary layer and can be derived by well known equation.The equation for light work was recommended in practical use.A convenient chart for determining insulation requirements of military footwear from wind speeds and air temperatures was given.

应用人体试验,研究不同气温及劳动条件下所需防寒鞋为隔热值,并使用暖体铜人观察不同风速对军鞋隔热值的影响.结果可见,无论是安静或轻劳动试验,所需军鞋隔热值随气温降低而逐渐增加,得出环境气温(x,℃)与所需军鞋隔热值(y,clo)间的直线回归方程为:安静时y=1.9617-0.1205x;轻劳动时y=1.2515-0.0751x.野外有风时,需穿军鞋隔热值(y,c1o)与气温(x,℃)和风速(v,m/s)的方程为:安静时y=2.8617-0.1205x-Ia;轻劳动时y=2.1515-0.0751x-Ia.Ia为由气温及风速求出的空气边界层隔热值.为方便应用,绘出了由气温、风速直接查算所需clo值的查算图.
