The present paper proposes on the basis of modem Reception Aesthetics that the active interpretation of the original text and translated version by translators and target language readers in the course of communication and dialogue with them definitely affects the process and result of translation practice. It also reveals the one-sided emphasis on the creation text of the traditional translation theories originated from the traditional literary theories, which leads to a dream of the exact equivalence between the text and the translated version, and misleads the translation practice by neglecting the participation of translators and target language readers. Some attentions concerning translation studies and practice are suggested in the end of the paper.

本文根据接受美学理论对文学翻译过程进行考察,从译者和译文读者的角度出发,分析了接受者对翻译活动的影响和作用,并讨论了翻译过程中语言和文化的接受性问题。指出受传统文艺美学理论影响的传统译论忽视了译者和译文读者在翻译过程中的积极的、能动的参与和创造作用,把原作文本和译作文本看成是孤立静止的自足客体,企图使译文“再现”原文,“等值”于原文,这无疑使传统译论失之片面,某种程度上也误导了翻译实践。本文通过对传统译论的考察剖析,得出了几点启示。

Chinese traditional translation theory has paid great attention to the translator's faithfulness to the original but neglected creativity of the translator. On the contrary, Qian Zhongshu's principle of “Transmigration” emphasizes creativity. According to Qian Zhongshu, the translation may surpass the original. The creativity of “Transmigration” first of all lies in the prescribing the task and nature of translation. Next, it affirms the creativity of the translator, revealing the art of translation...

Chinese traditional translation theory has paid great attention to the translator's faithfulness to the original but neglected creativity of the translator. On the contrary, Qian Zhongshu's principle of “Transmigration” emphasizes creativity. According to Qian Zhongshu, the translation may surpass the original. The creativity of “Transmigration” first of all lies in the prescribing the task and nature of translation. Next, it affirms the creativity of the translator, revealing the art of translation by the principle of “making up for the loss by the creativity” and “ getting the idea and forgetting the words”. In accordance with the aesthetic standards of Qian Zhongshu, the quality of the translation depends on the creativity of the translator. To be true to the original is not to imitate, but to recreate on the basis of the content and form of the original in accordance with translator's aesthetic principle.

中国传统翻译理论强调译者对原作的“忠实”,忽视译者的创新。钱钟书的“化境说”则强调译者的创新意识。在钱钟书先生看来 ,译笔无妨出原著头地。“化境说”的创新意识首先表现在它对翻译的性质与任务的严格限定 ;其次是肯定译者的创造性 ,以“笔补造化”、“得意忘言”来揭示文学翻译的艺术规律。根据钱钟书先生的美学原则 ,造艺中人的能动作用直接影响译作的质量。译者忠实于原作并不是依样画葫芦 ,而是根据他个人的审美原则 ,对原作的内容与形式作出艺术的再创造。
