The. paper surveys the techniques for content-based image and video indexing and retrieval hierarchically from feature - based, frame-based to object-based methods,including similarity measure~, compressed domain processing,video segmentation,video abstract,sound classification and text detection. The automatic video annotation is a key module of the video indexing and retrieval system, and the extraction and location of captions are important steps for video annotation. An automatic extraction algorithm for video caption by combining the wavelet transform and the fuzzy clustering neural network is presented. This algorithm is especially applicable to extracting and locating of Chinese captions. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve an accuracy of about 92% in caption detection and location.

视频的自动标注是视频检索系统中的重要模块,而字幕的提取与定位则是视频标注的重要步骤。提出了一种基于小波变换与模糊聚类神经网络相结合的字符区域自动提取算法。该算法尤其适合于中文字幕的提取与定位。实验结果表明,该算法对中文字幕检测与定位的精度达92%左右。
