The contents of this paper are as follows: (1) The local vacuum range above the molybdenum melting pool during the process of eletron-beam welding and the effect of technological factors on it are investigated. The authors give a thermodynamic analysis of the metallurgical reactions, possibly ocouring during the welding process. (2) The effects of welding technology on the properties, particularly on the ductility of molybdenum welds are studied. (3) In the last part of the paper, the authors made a study of the influence of welding technology on the grain-size of bead metal, impurity contents on the grain boundaries, and the ductility of the crystals of bead metal, and thus, an analysis of the cause of brittleness of molybdenum welds. On the basis of the foregeing results, the authors suggest a satisfactery technology for welding molybdenum (thickness 1. 5 mm) with eloctron-beam welding set ZD-30 and point out the direction for farther improvement of the ductility of welds.

Gray castiron works may be repaired by arc welding with electrodes of 08 or ordinary iron wire covered with special coating which contains ferro-aluminium and other graphilizers. During welding process, it is found that these electrodes produce a weld of gray cast iron structure. In view of the well-known embrittlement associated with welded Al-Cu joints, a low temperature friction welding process for joining aluminum to copper has been considered. This process is characterized by the joint action of a lower rotating speed and a moderately high axial welding pressure so as to keep the temperature by friction at the weld interface never raised above that of the eutectic point (548℃) in Al-Cu system, and at the same time to obtain a sufficient plastic de-formation...

This process is characterized by the joint action of a lower rotating speed and a moderately high axial welding pressure so as to keep the temperature by friction at the weld interface never raised above that of the eutectic point (548℃) in Al-Cu system, and at the same time to obtain a sufficient plastic de-formation at the friction surfaces of the joint. As a result, the many unsatisfactory features such as low mechanical strength and poor toughness of the weld joint generally associated with the conventional friction welding for dissimilar metals were much improved. Tests for hot stability, aging properties and practical applications also proved that the joint quality fully satisfied the technical requirements.

经过分析铝-铜摩擦焊接头脆断特点及其原因,在试验的基础上,提出了铝-铜低温摩擦焊工艺。通过降低转速及适当提高摩擦压力,使接头的摩擦加热焊接表面的温度低于铝-铜系统平衡图的共晶点548℃,并保证铝、铜焊接表面金属充分的塑性变形。采用低温摩擦焊消除了铝-铜接头的脆断,提高了接头的强度、塑性、韧性和锻压性能。接头的热稳定性、老化及实际运行试验表明,其质量完全满足技术条件的要求。
